The Hale-Wilkinson-Carter Home Foundation preserves “The Home”, a historical museum, and informs the general public about the cultural heritage of southwest Virginia by promoting artistic, educational and intellectual events.


  1. Provide visionary leadership, overall coordination and oversight to the restoration, preservation and programming of the Hale-Wilkinson-Carter Home.
  2. Provide a landmark gathering place and community icon at “The Home” for local citizens that will promote a sustainable future for the Hale-Wilkinson-Carter Home.
  3. Preserve the history of the previous owners of “The Home” and historical figures of Carroll County, the families of Captain Fielden Lewis Hale, James Wilkinson, George Lafayette Carter, as well as preserve the cultural heritage of southwest Virginia.
