This event featured old-time music, storytelling and a tour of the home, including a home-cooked dinner using recipes published in Grazing Along the Crooked Road, a cookbook by Libby Bondurant and Betty Skeens. Also featured were Appalachian folktales by Vicky Town and old-time music by the Virginia Mountain Singers, Phil and Patty Kirk.

Santa hosts a Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Carter Home with hot chocolate and warm laughter during Hillsville’s Christmas Parade events every first Saturday in December.
